The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has received reports of a scam, where a caller claiming to be an AER employee requests bank details to deposit a Government rebate for power due to the current COVID situation.
If you receive contact from the AER, it’s important to know that the AER would never ask you for your bank account details.
Anyone who receives such a call should not provide any personal or financial information and hang up immediately.
